More to religion
than pleasing
your imaginary friend

Chill damp darkening sky,
people walking, standing,
sometimes touching a name.
"Are you looking for a particular name?"

A name, another, a trickle, a torrent.
Names tumbling
"in the order in which they were lost"
into a canyon of despair and rage.

Proud white monuments reflecting
on reflections of ourselves
on names
on black walls
in silence.

Way too pretentious for a guy whose poetry is so mediocre.

I know it's a little late, but for all of you who went, thank you for serving. And for all of you who came back, welcome home.
